Oye’s smashing total for YAA following 8 hour table tennis match

A big thank you to one of our longstanding supporters Oye Jemiyo for organising another triumphant 8-hour table tennis match and for raising an incredible £1,273.73 with more funds still yet to be received.

Oye, a wheelchair table tennis player who has ranked highly in both UK and world table tennis championships has been organising a table tennis match for the charity since 2019.

Helen Berriman, West Yorkshire Fundraiser for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “I would like to thank Oye for his continuous support and generosity and congratulate him on another fantastic fundraiser for our Charity. It costs £12,000 a day to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances maintained and in the air and the money raised will help greatly towards the vital funding of our service.”

Hawes-Close-Knit-Friends raise vital funds for YAA

The Hawes-Close-Knit-Friends meet every Tuesday in the Board Inn in Hawes for an afternoon of knitting and nattering.  Last year they created a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party complete with Alice, a Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, the Mad March Hare, a sleepy dormouse, a caterpillar and obviously plenty of tea and cakes!  The installation on a table outside the Board Inn delighted all the Summer visitors and locals alike.

The installation was so popular that the knitted scene raised over £1,200 which was split between Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Hawes Christmas Lights.

The group are busy knitting and crocheting through the winter months but not telling anyone the woolly theme for 2022 – you’ll have to visit Hawes in the Summer to find out!

One of the members, Fiona Gill commented: “Luckily none of us has ever needed the air ambulance but we’re mighty glad you’re there.  Keep up the good work.”

Tessa Klemz, North Yorkshire Community Fundraiser recently visited the group and thanked them for being so creative in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and raising much-appreciated funds and awareness in rural Wensleydale.

Halifax Natwest raise over £1,000 for YAA

A big thank you to Halifax Natwest for displaying our collection tins in-store and their very generous customers for raising an incredible £1.022.54 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance over the last two years.

Helen Berriman, West Yorkshire Regional Fundraiser for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: ” Businesses serving local communities like Natwest are the lifeblood of our charity. Not only do they raise vital funds to keep both air ambulances in the air, but they also spread awareness of the work we do. It costs £12,000 every day to keep our charity running and we are very thankful for all the support we received from the Halifax Natwest branch.”

Charity ball raises phenomenal £14,000 for YAA

Angela, Mel and Liv from the Leyburn branch of Walter Dawson arranged a glittering Charity Ball at Tennants Auction House in Leyburn last November and raised a phenomenal £14,000.

Walter Dawson has eight branches across the county and collectively chose YAA as their Business Charity of the Year in 2021, having already raised over £20,000 last Summer with a team of 35 taking on the gruelling 24.5-mile Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

The Leyburn branch decided to organise the Ball as one of their colleagues Adele Chambers was carried by YAA in Spring 2021, having collapsed in the office and subsequently died two weeks later.  Adele and her colleagues had started thinking of organising a Ball for post-Covid so after Adele died, her three colleagues were even more determined that the Ball should happen and to raise funds for YAA in memory of their colleague.  They sold almost 400 tickets, all the tables were sponsored by local businesses, there was an Auction, Raffle and everyone had a brilliant time and was delighted to be able to have a party after the pandemic restrictions.

Tessa Klemz, North Community Fundraiser said “The team at Walter Dawson organised such a brilliant evening in aid of YAA and we’re delighted that they chose to support YAA and remember their much-missed colleague Adele.  The rural Leyburn community are fully aware of the importance of the life-saving service in the Dales and so are very generous supporters of YAA”

 

Handknitted with love for YAA

A big thank you to Gillian Carter who has knitted some wonderful items for us to sell at our stalls. There are some fantastic items including mermaids, monkeys and doll blankets.

 

 

Rowan Court’s Fundraising Afternoon raises nearly £800

The residents at Rowan Court in Thirsk arranged a fundraising afternoon with a raffle, bookstall, delicious cake stall and also sold YAA Christmas cards.  All their hard work raised a staggering £784.25 which will help to keep the two yellow helicopters flying across Yorkshire saving lives.  Tessa Klemz, North Yorkshire Community Fundraiser went to collect the donation and thanked them for their generous support.  Residential Manager, Andrea Brazil mentioned that the residents would like to make the event an annual occasion.  Thank you to all at Rowan Court!

Lou & Joe’s Burger Co. donate a further £4,351 to YAA

A huge thank you to Lou & Joe’s Burger Co. for their recent donation of £4351. This donation takes the total raised to date, to an amazing £8209! The money has been raised through the sales of their Scotty 2 Hotty burger, with £1 being donated for each burger ordered. Louie and Scott pictured also completed the Yorkshire Marathon raising £996 in sponsorship. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Schroders Personal Wealth raise £5130.50 walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks

A big thank you to Schroders Personal Wealth for completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks and raising an incredible £5130.50. The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a tough challenge but it was made even more difficult as they were tackling it on the hottest day of the year in July. Thank you so much for your support.

Waitrose Harrogate ‘Give a Little Love’ to YAA with £700 donation

A huge thank you to Waitrose in Harrogate who chose Yorkshire Air Ambulance as their charity of the month for their ‘Give a Little Love’ campaign in October, which raised £700.

Clare Deacon, North Yorkshire Community Fundraiser for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “We would like to thank Waitrose Harrogate for their continued support and generosity and for choosing us as one of their recent ‘Give a Little Love’ beneficiaries.

It costs £12,000 a day to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances maintained and in the air and support from local businesses and communities is the life-blood of our charity.

Manchester Marathon runners raise £1,438 for YAA

We would like to say a huge thank you to David, Damon, Ryan, James & Chris who ran the Manchester Marathon this year and two years ago to raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.  Unfortunately, the YAA was needed after two of their friends were involved in a road traffic collision in Doncaster.  Sadly one of their friends Aidy did not survive.  Through their fundraising, they have raised £1438 and counting!

Greyhound Inn raise more than £1,500 for YAA with help of two exceptional young waiters

Fifteen-year-old waiters Joe and Harry took over the kitchen at The Greyhound Inn in Hackforth near Bedale in North Yorkshire and wowed the diners with their set 3-course meal.  Everyone was very impressed with their cooking skills and they helped to raise over £250 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.  The fundraisers of the future!

The Greyhound Inn also organised a Harvest Auction in the pub which raised £1355.60 selling local produce.  Yorkshire Air Ambulance are so grateful to Steve and the small Hackforth community for their continued and very valuable fundraising that over the years that is now a phenomenal £5811.57.

Tea Cosy Memory Cafe’s generous £500 YAA donation

A big thank you to Peter and Liz Smith who ran the Tea Cosy Memory Café in Rothwell for their donation of £500. Peter and Liz have been running the Tea Cosy Memory café for 10 years and when they decided to step down unfortunately no one came forward to carry on the café. Peter and Liz have been donating the money from the Tea Cosy account to local charities, and we are delighted that they chose to donate £500 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
